Intersil ISL8018IRAJZ-T7A Synchronous Buck Regulator is a high efficiency, monolithic, synchronous step-down DC/DC converter. It can deliver up to 8A continuous output current from a 2.7V to 5.5V input supply. The output voltage is adjustable from 0.6V to VIN. The ISL8018IRAJZ-T7A offers both SYNCIN and SYNCOUT features. These allow multiple regulators to synchronize operating on the same frequency. The phases can also adjust so that ON time does not overlap, reducing the input RMS current, input capacitance requirement, ripple and improving EMI and efficiency. The ISL8018IRAJZ-T7A has a VSET feature which is the output margining setting. Increase output by 10% by simply transitioning VSET from float to high for compensating IR drop of the output. Output can reduce by 10% when VSET is set to low for reducing output power dissipation. The ISL8018IRAJZ-T7A offers ISET feature which adjust the output current limit to support 8A, 5A and 3A applications. Leverage one design to increase volume and reduce cost. The inductor design does not have to oversize which reduces board area.
