Vishay VEML6040 RGBW Color Sensor is a single-chip sensor which integrates red, green, and blue photodiodes with signal processing circuitry. It has a photodiode peak sensitivity for Red: 650nm, Green: 550nm and Blue: 450nm. There is also a broad spectrum photodiode for sensing white light. The VEML6040 has 16-bit resolution for each color channel (R, G, B, and W). The sensor has selectable lux detection ranges: 360, 721, 1442, 2883, 5767 or 11796 lux. This results in a maximum sensitivity up to 0.0056 lux/count which is a big advantage if the sensor is placed behind a low transmittance window.  The VEML6040 features patented Filtron technology which closely replicates the human eye's response to light and color. Commands are set and data is read via the I2C interface. The VEML6040 has excellent temperature compensation, keeping the output stable from -40�C to +85�C.
